Psychotherapy

Therapy is an honest conversation about you to explore what is troubling you, what matters to you in life, and what is getting in the way of the changes you desire to make in your life.

Some people come to therapy with a bigger agenda; they feel their life is not working and they do not understand why. Often psychological symptoms of depression and anxiety signal deeper distress and pain. People seek therapy not only to get relief from pain, but also to gain a better understanding of their thoughts, feelings, behaviors, and relationships.
Every person will have different goals and needs, so psychotherapy is adaptable to what you are needing. Therapy can be a matter of meeting once a week for a couple of months, or once or twice a week for several years or more. After our work is completed, I will continue to be available to you, if more work is needed or new difficulties arise.

Couples Therapy

Every relationship will reach a point where you feel disconnected from your partner and struggle to communicate. Couple’s therapy provides the space to explore behavioral cycles and patterns, express emotions, and reconnect. Common issues I support couples with include: infertility, healing past wounds, communication, and finding purpose together.

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR)

EMDR, developed by Dr. Shapiro, is an evidence based treatment particularly for reprocessing traumatic events and experiences. EMDR helps you process painful feelings and memories, allowing your brain to heal naturally. Once these memories are reprocessed, you will find more freedom and control over your internal world.

Beyond reprocessing traumatic experience, here are other challenges EMDR can help:

  • Anxiety & Depression
  • OCD
  • Ruminating thoughts
  • Grief
  • Phobias
